Pulley (Head Roll)

The pulleys provided by Gauss Magneti are widely used in the metal recycling plants, WEEE, in the treatment and recovery of waste, slag and minerals, but also in the areas of recycling wood chips, glass, etc. Their main function is to separate automatically ferrous pieces (of small and medium dimensions) from the flow of the process material.

Principle of operation

  • The magnetic pulleys can be installed individually or coupled to a second separator. For example, when the thickness of the inert material is high, an overband separator, whose magnetic field is oriented from top to bottom, can be installed, while the magnetic pulley has the magnetic field oriented from bottom upwards. The two complementary magnetic fields make ferromagnetic intrusions removing more secure.
  • They can be mounted as head rollers for belt conveyors. In this case the iron is attracted and discharged at the point where the conveyor belt detaches from the roller, to begin its return path; the material not attracted detaches from the belt and falls by inertia, when it changes direction to follow the radius of the pulley.

Gauss Magneti provides both electromagnetic versions (PE), both permanent magnet (PM). We are at your disposal to help you choosing the most suitable pulley to your needs, by type and size.

The advantages of adopting the pulley as the separation solution:

  • Similar in size to the mechanical rollers, that they replace
  • Size of the shaft that can be coupled to the previous engine system

For these reasons, their use in the system does not involve substantial changes to the system itself.
